My Travels.

Welcome!

I have spent most of my life living in Western Washington. I remember my self, my brother, and my dad going hopping in the old Volkswagon van. We got up before the rest of the world, and headed to the Cascades where we would find a logging road that had a spot to pull off the road and a river close by. We would pitch a tent, break out the chairs, and sit around a blazing camp fire.

I distinctly remember the sound of the river that was close by, being able to look up into the sky and see all the stars. It never ceased to amaze me how nice it was to just relax, and not have to think about anything but the surroundings.

I also remember spending time out on the lakes around the Cascade mountains. We'd spend countless hours just sitting there in a boat, a fishing line in the water, and the feeling of euphoria just from having all the worries of life dissapear at the end of the fishing pole. Granted I really did not like fishing because it required me to actually relax, but, never-the less, I still enjoyed what we where doing, and there are times where I wish I could still do it. What I never realized until recent times is that it was a pivital point in my life. Because of the experiences that my dad had given me, it has actually made become a person who loves to travel.

As I stated previously, I have spent alot of time traveling, and for the past 3 years I have spent a majority of time behind of a semi. I have traveled all over the lower 48 states. When I initially started driving truck and was with my trainer, I was spending my time running east to west every single week. I was able to see things that I have never seen in my life and I really enjoyed it, but as with all things in life, it was short lived. When I went solo in October 2005 , I began to primarily travel up and down the 11 Western States, and I had done this for a couple months until I went over to Walmart dedicated. This still gave me the chance to see the country, but limited my exposure to Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and as far south as Central California.

After deciding to go back to the open road again, I went back to the 11 Western states with another company where I had spent almost another 2 years of my career running like crazy, seeing sites I had not seen before, and making a decent chunk of change. What was nice about driving semi's is that it gives you the ability to get paid to travel, but on the flip side, it made me miss the ability to go home every night. Ultimately, spraining my left knee (clutch leg), resulted in me not being able to drive. Although I am not currently able to drive truck at this moment in time, I am thinking about getting back into the trucking industry when I can get my knee back in shape. That is unless I can get into the other industry that I also am good in which is Information Technology.

As of recent times, I have gotten back into the transportation industry working for a local Taxi company. I am definately enjoying this job because it still allows me to get my travel fix, and I enjoy working with people, and as I am a rather fast learner; I am sure that I will be able do well with this job. As with any job, there is a learning period, and at times there is a lot of frustration that comes along with it!

I am looking forward to the opportunity to get to know the area that I live in, and I am really looking forward to being able to get back to the things in life that I enjoy so much. I can't wait to pack up the car, and go find some remote place, and continue on with a tradition that my dad had started with me.

My Spare Time Activities.
As travel and camping are obviously the big part of my lifestyle, I have a wealth of other things that I do like to do in the time that I am not driving people around. I would have to say the major thing for me would be my ability to utilize my own creativity, and in turn try and teach others how to learn how to do some basic web design. When TWREK was thought up, it is a collaboration of ideas, and my knowledge of web design. This was her first go at web design, and my first real attempt at trying to teach someone else how to write web pages. While my ex-girlfriend wrote the entire website, I was by her side to help her out and to do some optimizations to the site it's self.

I would have to say that web design is the one thing I really like to do on my own time. Typically I like to work with HTML, PHP, and MySQL. While as we have not had the opportunity to work on it as of late, it is still a major work in progress. Although this is my primary source of enjoyment, I also like to brainstorm, and think of different ways of implementing technology. Although web design is my most liked protocols to work with, I do have an extensive background in different protocols, applications, and operating systems.

In all reality, computer related stuff is not my primary idea of a good time. All in all, I don't like sitting still, and thus I have to keep myself moving.
